Biographical info

Name: Cadet Hand

Born: 23 April 1920

Major Accomplishments:

Professor Emeritus at the University of California, Berkeley, and Retired Director of the Bodega Marine Laboratory, in Bodega Bay, California. The BML library was named in Cadet's honor in 1996, and is now known as the Cadet Hand Library. Hand's primary research interests are with the Anthozoa, but he has extensive knowledge of the California flora and fauna. Among his students who pursued careers in the medusa studies are John T. Rees and Claudia Mills.
