Currently, there are essentially only 2 molecular
phylogenetic hypotheses of the Cubozoa, both based on 18S rRNA
in Collins
(2002). One is analyzed with Maximum Parsimony, and the other
(included herein, lower figure) is based on Maximum Likelihood.
Both have the same tree topology (for the Cubozoa only!).
Another phylogenetic hypothesis (included herein, upper figure)
is from the U.C.
Museum of Paleontology Cubozoa site. However, please note
that it is simply based on the classification presented by P.L.
Kramp (1961: Synopsis of the Medusae of the World, J. Mar. Biol.
Ass. U.K., 40: 1-469), and is not based on any sort of actual
phylogenetic analysis. My thesis will correct this in a big way,
but it is not yet submitted nor published, and is thus not yet
available. (Soon though, I promise!)
